When Brisbane-based retailer, K and K Creative Toys, decided to grow their online retail offering, they turned to Drive Digital. For over 50 years, their bricks-and-mortar store built its reputation by providing high-quality toys with an unparalleled level of customer service. These same core values needed to translate to their online offering, to allow them to expand their brand and increase digital sales. The transformation required a new platform and fast work! A new site was needed in 12 weeks before the Christmas shopping rush commenced.

The Challenge

The independent toy retailer already had an online store. However, the online shopping expereience, particularly for mobile customers, did no reflect the high standards upon which the physical store was built. A range of design changes and new sales initiatives were required to make use of the multi-channel retail experience in a highly competitive online environment. Although changing platforms required the migration of over 1,500 products, it became the best solution to deliver these sales initiatives in a timely and cost-effective manner, while providing a environment for scalable growth.


Through delivering a modern, multi-channel retail experience on Shopify, the objectives were to:

Customised Design To Enhance The Brand

We brought in Brass Antlers to help create a fun, childish and playful visual aesthetic. A fully customised theme was designed to match the brand identity and provide bespoke functionality required by the store.

Over 1,500 Products Successfully Migrated

Presenting one of the largest challenges – the catalogue of over 1,500 products, their associated images, descriptions and categories were imported from Adobe Business Catalyst. The new Shopify platform handled this with ease. Product images varied in quality, so display settings were devised to provide the best front-end result.

Deliver A Strong Mobile Experience To Improve Device Conversions

A strong focus was given to the mobile design to improve the customer experience. The result was an intuitive intererface that delivered better site browsing and more product purchases.

Providing The Same Exceptional In-Store Service

One of the big selling points of the in-store experience, is highly knowledgeable staff. Using their years of accumulated knowledge, they can help provide a personalised shopping experience to select the right toys for each customer. Translating this experience online, the ‘Gift Finder’ was developed, allowing customers to refine the catalogue based on Price, Age & Interest- to help find the perfect toy!

Helping The Customer To Browse A Large Range Of Products

A navigation system was implemented, to allow customers to find the right toy – however they wanted to look for it. A flitering system also helped with refining their selection.

Improve Order Processing

To achieve a greater volume of sales, the order fulfilment procedures were streamlined to efficiently deal with a larger volume of orders, while providing customers greater access to information about their order status.
